Tendulkar completes another landmark year in international cricket

Kolkata, Nov 15: Sachin Tendulkar, the toast of the cricketing world and arguably the greatest batsman the game has produced, completed 22 years in international cricket today. Having made his international debut against Pakistan in the Karachi Test which began on November 15, 1989, the master batsman rounded off yet another glorious year in the international arena.

Tendulkar, whose first innings in international cricket yielded just 15 runs, has gone on to own virtually every batting record the game has to offer. He has the maximum number of centuries in both Test (51) and ODI (48) cricket. He is the leading run-getter in both those formats as well, having scored 15086 runs in Tests and 18111 runs in ODIs.

Ever since Tendulkar scored his 99th international century – an innings of 111 against South Africa in the 2011 ICC World Cup – cricket lovers across the world have waited for that landmark 100th international century.

In the past year (since November 15, 2010), Tendulkar has scored two centuries each in the Test and ODI formats of the game, with three of those centuries coming against South Africa and one against England.

The last year also saw Tendulkar score his first IPL ton when he smashed 100* off just 66 deliveries against the now defunct Kochi Tuskers Kerala at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 15, 2011.
