Badrinath hopes to carry his fine IPL form into the ODI series in the West Indies
Chennai, May 28: Subramanium Badrinath has been a lynchpin in Chennai Super Kings’ batting. Over the four seasons, he has anchored the team’s batting line-up that is crowded with aggressive Indian and international stars. In a chat with www.iplt20.com, the soft-spoken middle-order batsman talks about his team’s dream run in the IPL, skipper MS Dhoni and looks forward to being a part of Team India on their tour of the West Indies. CSK played like a team throughout the tournament… We were a champion side and were also very good on paper. We had done well in the last IPL and CLT20 and it was important for us to carry on from there. We were pretty confident going into the tournament and we played to our potential. On Murali Vijay’s innings It was an amazing knock. He’s always been a player of superb talent. He hadn’t been in the best of touch of late but I’m happy he came good at the right time when the team needed him the most. Did the three-day rest that CSK got as compared to RCB’s less than 24-hour break help? It could have had an edge. It’s never easy playing back-to-back games. But that’s the way the format is and we got this advantage because we had done well to win the first qualifier. It is always good to have a bit of a break ahead of a big game like this. What does MS Dhoni mean to the side? He’s been a tremendous influence in the way he has been leading the team in the last four years. The way he gives confidence to the players, maintains his cool in every situation and utilises his resources is truly inspirational. He’s just won the World Cup for India and is probably the best captain in the world right now. We couldn’t have asked for a better leader. On being part of the team touring the West Indies I’m really looking forward to it as I’m going to play for India after a while. The good thing is that I’m batting well and I’ll carry a lot of confidence going into the series. I hope to keep the good form going and make optimum use of the chances that come my way.
