MEDIA ADVISORY Brisbane, Feb 17: Cricket Australia’s National Selection Panel (NSP) today confirmed Australia’s squad for Sunday’s Commonwealth Bank Series match against India in Brisbane. Injured Australian captain Michael Clarke will not return to the Australian squad while Tasmanian batsman George Bailey will join the squad tomorrow as a standby batsman. Victorian spinner Jon Holland will remain with the squad after joining this morning. Australian coach and NSP member Mickey Arthur said: “George Bailey has been added to the Australian squad as a standby batsman for this match in Brisbane. While it is not ideal having to take George away from the Sheffield Shield match currently underway in Hobart, we feel it is important we have sufficient batting cover in our squad. “This selection is reward for George’s excellent form with Tasmania this season and recognition that the NSP consider him the next batsman in line for Australian one-day selection. Bailey will depart Hobart late tomorrow to allow him as long as possible to play in day two of the Sheffield Shield game against Queensland and join the squad in Brisbane tomorrow evening. Cricket Australia physiotherapist Alex Kountouris said: “Michael Clarke is progressing well in his recovery from a right hamstring injury but remains unavailable for selection in Brisbane. His availability for the ODI in Hobart will be determined early next week.
