Mr. Sunil Gavaskar to deliver the first lecture of the series introduced to honour Mr. Hazare

In order to celebrate the birth centenary of former India captain, Mr. Vijay Hazare, Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) has introduced a series of lecture in his honour. The first lecture will be delivered by Mr. Sunil Gavaskar on October 16 in Baroda and will be attended by the members and special invitees of the BCA. Mr. Hazare played 30 Test matches for India between 1946 and 1953, and captained the team in 14 of them. He finished his international career with 2192 runs at an average of 47.65. The highlight of his career was his twin centuries in Adelaide – 116 and 145 – on India’s first tour to Australia in 1947-48.

Besides scoring seven Test centuries and nine half-centuries, Mr. Hazare also picked 20 Test wickets with his medium-pace leg-cutters that came through his famous round-arm bowling action. After a prolonged illness and a week on life support, the Indian legend breathed his last on December 18, 2004 in Baroda, at the age of 89 years.
