The BCCI regrets to inform that one of its staff members G. Rakesh passed away on Sunday morning (30 September 2018). Working at the National Cricket Academy, Bengaluru, Rakesh, 37, suffered a heart attack. Having started off as a groundsman first in 2010, Rakesh made his way up with sheer hard work and was promoted as Supervisor earlier this year. While he continued to help the groundsmen each time they needed help, Rakesh was loved by everyone for his willingness to contribute in every department. Rakesh managed the stores and maintained a data of cricketing equipment sent or dispatched from the NCA. His colleagues remember him as a passionate, sincere and hardworking man, who was eager to help.
