Considering the rise in the number of domestic matches in the 2018-19 season, the BCCI has taken a pro-active approach by conducting Match Referees Seminar cum examination at Bengaluru from 17th to 19th July 2018. The BCCI realizes that with the increase in matches the existing Match Officials on BCCI Panel would not be sufficient. ICC Match Referee Mr. Javagal Srinath conducted the seminar and examination along with other Indian international umpires. The two-day seminar was followed by an examination of 100 marks on the third day with 70 marks reserved for theory and 30 marks for applied workshop. The topics covered were Roles & Responsibilities of Match Referee, Functional Aspects of Match Referee, Enacting the Laws and Playing Conditions, Breaches, Over Rates and Code of Conduct, Venue Inspection, Conduct of Pre Match/Tournament meeting etc. Mr. Srinath expressed satisfaction with the response from the participants in all the group activities conducted during the seminar and their conduct on the examination day.
