Bhajji is brilliant: Dravid
Summary

Indian batsman credits the off-spinner for India's performance in the match

Hyderabad, Nov 15:Indian middle-order batsman Rahul Dravid on Sunday credited Harbhajan Singh for India's reasonably good position at stumps on the third day of the second cricket Test against New Zealand at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

Harbhajan Singh has scored 295 runs, including two centuries and a fifty, in the series so far.

Dravid said that Harbhajan was developing well into an all-rounder and his contributions lower down the order have been instrumental in India's position in the Test arena.

Excerpts:

On India's position in the match:

We are slightly ahead but need to really increase the lead as much as possible. Hopefully, Bhajji (Harbhajan) will hit a century again and mind you Sree is really batting well.

On the team's strategy:

We need to get more runs to put more pressure. There is plenty of time left in this Test and it is too early to think about the declaration. Anything can happen on the last two days of a Test and especially here. We have to really bowl well and take our catches to put the Kiwis under pressure in the second innings. On Indian wickets, things start happening on the last two days and we would like to get as many runs as we can to apply pressure on New Zealand. Batting is going to be difficult as the game goes on.

On the track and the stadium:

Definitely batting in the last innings should be a very difficult proposition even though the pitch is still really a good one now. This is a beautiful ground with a lovely outfield.

On Harbhajan Singh's innings:

Honestly, Bhajji has been batting brilliantly this season and he seems to be developing into a very good all-rounder. Like Sir Sobers.

On New Zealand's fielding on Day 3:

What really stood out today was their fielding. Their ground fielding was exceptional, they stopped so many runs, especially when me and Laxman were batting. It created a lot of pressure. We would like to get as many runs as we can.

On failing to convert the start:

It is disappointing, having done all the hard work, we just couldn't carry on. The good thing is we have been playing well as a team and we are getting the kind of scores we need in these conditions.
