Bowlers, Sarfaraz guide India U19 to Tri-Series victory
Summary

The Ricky Bhui-led side beat Bangladesh by seven wickets in final

Keeping their unbeaten run in the tournament intact, India U19 won the Tri-Series with a comfortable seven-wicket win over Bangladesh U19 in the final held at Jadavpur University Campus, Kolkata. After dismissing Bangladesh U19 for just 116 runs, India chased down the target in only 13.3 overs (scorecard).

Left-arm spinner Mayank Dangar picked up 3/32 to rock the middle-order after the visitors had lost the openers early. Such was the discipline shown by the Indian bowlers that only three batsmen could get double digit scores. Shubham Mavi and MK Lormor shared two wickets each. The Indian openers – Washington Sundar and Rishab Pant – put on 38 runs on the board but the home team lost three wickets for just four runs in just 11 deliveries to give visitors a hope. It was against this backdrop that Sarfaraz Khan walked in. The second highest scorer during the 2014 World Cup, had failed in the league matches (2, 0 and 12), but overcame his string of low scores with an impressive batting show. Playing his attacking game, he took on the opposition and blasted 59 from just 27 balls including nine boundaries and three sixes.
