Bresnan also finds place in 12-man squad
London, July 17: Stuart Broad has been included in England’s 12-man squad for the Lord’s Test against India that begins July 21, 2011. Fellow pacer Tim Bresnan also finds a place in the squad while Steve Finn, impressive in England’s triumphant Ashes campaign in early 2011, was unlucky to miss out.
Broad’s form has been under the scanner in recent weeks following his eight wickets in the Tests against Sri Lanka. However, his match haul of six for 162 for Nottinghamshire against Somerset, including five for 95 in the first innings, in a recent four-day game, was enough to get him the nod.
Besides Broad, Tim Bresnan returns to the England side after a calf injury left him in the sidelines for the Test series against Sri Lanka. However, Bresnan did return to play for England in the ODI series against Sri Lanka which the hosts won 3-2. Bresnan picked up eight wickets at an economy-rate of 5.52 in that series.
Chris Tremlett and James Anderson are the other pacers named in the squad while offspinner Graeme Swann completes the list of bowling options for Andrew Strauss for the Lord’s Test.
England squad: Andrew Strauss (c), Alastair Cook, Jonathan Trott, Kevin Pietersen, Ian Bell, Eoin Morgan, Matt Prior (wk), Stuart Broad, Graeme Swann, Chris Tremlett, James Anderson and Tim Bresnan
