Feb 26: Cricket Australia medical staff today provided an injury update on Australian captain Michael Clarke who is not playing in today’s Commonwealth Bank Series ODI against India at the SCG.

Shane Watson makes his return to Australian colours and will captain the side for the first time in Clarke’s absence.

Cricket Australia physiotherapist Alex Kountouris said:

“Michael’s back was sore during the last ODI in Hobart on Friday night. With the short turnaround between games we have taken the precaution of him not playing in today’s game at the SCG.

“He has already improved significantly in the short period since Friday’s game and we are confident he will be available for our next match against Sri Lanka in Melbourne.”
