Chhattisgarh dominated the first day’s proceedings in Guwahati by bowling Haryana out for 178. While Bishal Gosh (146) and S Patel (111*) propelled Tripura to a commanding position, Goa’s S Kamat (177*) and debutant S Amonkar (101) batted the team to a position of strength against Services. In Mumbai, Shubham Khajuria anchored the J & K innings until departing towards the fag end of the day for 90. Jalaj Saxena and Sachin Baby helped Kerala to a respectable score at the end of day’s play with unbeaten half-centuries. Saxena was batting on 58 with Sachin on 51 when play ended for the day. However, after that early success Himachal were milked by the opener and Smit Patel. The pair put together 230 runs for the second wicket before the partnership was ended by Mayank Dagar. The opener had scored 146 off 257 balls until he was sent back by the left-arm pacer.

Remaining unbeaten on 111, Patel then carried the innings to stumps with Yashpal Singh (4*). The opener scored a century in his debut game to help the team into a strong position on the first day. At the end of day’s play Kamat was batting on 177 with Snehal Kauthankar on 35 as they took the team to 333 for two. Asked to bat by Hanuma Vihari, Jammu and Kashmir posted 205 for six on the first day of their match in Mumbai. Siva Kumar dealt the first blow by claiming Adil Reshi in the second over for one run. While wickets kept falling at the other end, young Shubham Khajuria anchored the innings. While Amir Aziz was bowled by Bhargav Bhatt, Ian Dev Singh was sent back by Vijay Kumar. Parvez Rasool, who looked in good nick compiling 45 runs in a 99-run partnership for the fourth wicket edged Siva Kumar to the wicketkeeper leaving the team on 150 for four. Mithun Manhas, who then made his way out to the middle contributed seven before Vijaykumar sent him back. In the final session of the day, Khajuria’s gritty innings was ended 10 runs short of century by Bhatt. The spinner dislodged the opener’s stumps to send him back for 90.

Bandeep Singh and Punit Bisht then saw the team through to stumps with an unbroken 19-run stand.
