England seamer thrilled with four-for performance
Manchester, Aug 31: England seamer Jade Dernbach was named Man-of-the-Match for his four-for that helped England beat India by six wickets in the only T20 to be played on the tour. The South African-born bowler also effected a run-out making it an all-round good day in the field.
Dernbach spoke about the performance in a post-match media interaction.
Excerpts:
On the game
That was awesome, obviously, to get over the line in the end. It was such a tight game for us.
On bowling in the death
That’s the situation I bowl in for the team, sort of thrive in, and I like it. So to come as well as I did today, hopefully that continues.
On developing the slower ball
[It] takes time, some application and stuff. But I have got a good game and I have played at The Oval and learned my trade there and to come in here and to [find success] is a dream come true.
On continuing the winning momentum from the Tests
We wanted to strike the first ball in the one-day series and to take the momentum. But this is a one-off game and we’ve got to rebuild the game now [for] Saturday, though.
On whether he was a bit tired
Yes, of course but that’s what Twenty20 is all about.
