All-rounder will not take part in the warm-up match; Morne Morkel expected to be fit
JP Duminy is a doubtful starter for the first Test between India and South Africa in Mohali. Duminy, who split the webbing of his right hand during the third ODI, in Rajkot, going for a return catch, will not take part in the two-day warm-up match against the Board President’s XI at the CCI starting October 30. The all-rounder also missed the last two ODIs of the series, in Chennai and Mumbai. “He would not be playing in the (two-day) game here. His chances of playing at Mohali are 50:50 at present," South African team’s media manager said after the team’s practice session. Duminy has stitches on his webbing, which are expected to come off in three days time. His condition will be assessed after that and a decision on his availability for the Mohali Test will be made.
Morne Morkel, who is also nursing an injury to his leg, sustained during the same match, is expected to be fit in time for the first Test on November 5. The SA media manager confirmed that Morkel will roll his arm over in the practice game and that he is “doing fine”.
