Yuvraj Singh says that he has been working hard in the domestic circuit to make a return to form
Chennai, Dec 10: Indian middle-order batsman Yuvraj Singh won the Man-of-the-Match award with an all-round performance in the fifth and final ODI against New Zealand here on Friday. The southpaw said that he was feeling good and with runs and wickets under his belt he was confident of making it big when India co-host the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 next year.
Excerpts:
On giving himself an early birthday gift by winning the Man-of-the-Match award [Yuvraj will turn 29 on Dec 12]
Yeah, thanks to God who gave me a birthday gift early. I am happy with the performance. I have been working hard for the past 6-8 months so I am feeling good now.
On the track and conditions
Yeah, it was turning and gripping and everything was happening in there. I think our spinners bowled really well throughout the series. The early wickets didn’t let them [NZ] have any partnerships and that was the key.
On playing domestic cricket
Yeah, I played three Ranji Trophy games and have played a lot of balls and scored few runs. I am very happy with the way my preparation has gone going into the World Cup. And I think winning this series 5-0 the team has done a great effort – all the batsmen, all the bowlers- I think a great team effort.
On the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup
Yeah, I am ready to go [for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011]. The body is getting fitter and hopefully by the World Cup I will be super fit.
