Focus is on taking wickets: Chawla
Summary

Leg-spinner Piyush Chawla feels the two wickets against Netherlands have helped his confidence

New Delhi, March 9: Leg-spinner Piyush Chawla, who has been looking to find his form in the CWC 2011, spoke to the media after taking two wickets in the match against Netherlands at the Feroz Shah Kotla.

Excerpts from the interview.

On the target of 190 runs

The wicket is quite good to bat on. It’s a little bit on the slower side but the boundaries are really short so it’s not going to be that difficult for us.

On his figures of two for 47 against Netherlands

The last two balls spoiled my whole analysis but it was okay at the end of the day because [Borren] played a few good shots and as a bowler I know I bowled in good areas and got a few wickets. So it’s good for the confidence.

On the confidence factor

Well, [in the] last game I was not getting my rhythm so [I’m] happy to get the rhythm back. As a leg-spinner it’s very important for me to get the rhythm and confidence going.

On what his focus is while bowling – economy rate, taking wickets or both

Most of the time my focus is on getting wickets for the team because in any form of cricket if you want to contain the batsmen you have to pick up wickets.
