Summary
In what has been a low scoring series, Sanjay Manjrekar is happy to see batsmen dominate for a change
With just four wickets falling in the entire day, it is for the first time in the series that batsmen have dominated the proceedings. In Ajinkya Rahane, India have got a world-class batsman. He is good against both spin and fast bowling. Rahane has scored runs in all major Test playing nations like England, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia and now India and he is the world-class batsman of this generation. Hashim Amla and AB de Villiers brought their defence to the fore. They are modern day batsmen who play in all formats and score at a strike-rate of over 100, but when the need be they can defend too and they showed that. Those who love Test cricket would have enjoyed the fourth day’s play.
