Centurion, Dec 18: Conceding that India have been outplayed on the first two days of the first Test, Rahul Dravid said his side needs to show some fighting spirit and bat well in the second innings to save the Test.

“We are way behind in the game, but we have just got to believe we can do it,” said Dravid.

“There's still a lot of cricket left in the series, and we have to keep our heads high, show some fighting spirit with the ball [on Saturday] and then with the bat in the second innings.”

On being asked about the absence of strike bowler Zaheer Khan, Dravid said, “Sure we missed Zaheer, who has been our go-to man in difficult situations when someone has needed to step up. I thought our bowlers did the best they could.”

Dravid refused to lay the blame for India’s unremarkable performance in the Test on their bowlers, saying, “It is a learning experience for the younger guys. It was a learning curve for them - they tried a lot of things, but it didn't work.”
