WI batsman Ramnaresh Sarwan looks to regain form in the second Test
Barbados, June 29: Ramnaresh Sarwan has his task cut out for him as the second Test heads into the second day with the hosts having lost three top-order batsmen. The senior West Indies batsman, who got out cheaply in the first Test and struggled for form in the ODIs, is looking to come good at the Kensington Oval.
Excerpts from Sarwan’s interaction with the media:
On India’s batting
VVS [Laxman] and [Suresh] Raina had a pretty good partnership […]. They carried [it] to lunch and tea; VVS did really well for his 88 [runs].
On the pitch
There is a bit of tennis bounce in it. I think it is going to get normal on Day 2. I hope we have the batting to capitalise on that.
On Fidel Edwards and Ravi Rampaul
Both have done really well. They bowled really good in partnership. That is what we needed at the time. Fortunately for us, Fidel had a big burst after tea and he got the wickets
On his form
In the first Test I obviously didn’t get in […] but it’s important that I play well in the second Test here. It is a great opportunity for me; [I have] been in a bit of trouble so it’s a wonderful opportunity. Hopefully I can take the opportunity.
On Praveen Kumar and the Indian fast bowling attack
They have done pretty well. [They] have bowled in good areas, they are very consistent. [They] seem to be very skilful as well. Hopefully we will be able to negotiate all of them.
