Odisha’s Sandeep Pattnaik anchored the team to a modest score with a well-compiled 123 even as Saurashtra’s Dharmendra Jadeja (four-for) and co had the batsmen at the other end in a bind. In Mumbai, Swapnil Gugale and Ankit Bawane joined forces to put Maharashtra in an advantageous position against the Unmukt Chand-led Delhi with unbeaten centuries in the ongoing game. Pankaj Singh wrecked Assam with a five-for while Karnataka opener, R Samarth shaped the innings after the early loss of two wickets with a century. Group B, Round 2 – Day 1 Round-up:
Odisha vs Saurashtra in Hyderabad: Odisha 1st inn 228/10 in 80.5 overs (S Pattnaik 123, D Jadeja 4/67); Sau 1st inn 4/0 in 7 overs (M Dodia 3*, S Jogiyani 0*) Trail by 224 runs. While Sandeep Pattnaik (123) worked to hold the innings together, Dharmendra Jadeja and co ran through the lineup at the other end. The left-arm spinner finished with a four-for including the top three batsmen while the Saurashtra pacers – Shaurya Sanandia, Deepak Punia and Chirag Jani claimed two wickets each. Maharashtra vs Delhi in Mumbai: Maha 1st inn 290/2 in 90 overs (S Gugale 152*, A Bawane 120*, N Saini 2/43) Making the most of the morning conditions, Navdeep Saini left Maharashtra on 41 for two, however, Maharashtra had seized the advantage back until play ended for the day. Karun Nair then joined R Samarth in reviving the innings and the pair had taken the side to 187 when pacer sent back the middle-order bat to end the stand. Reaming unbeaten on 118, Samarth had taken Karnataka to 248 for three with debutant Kaunain Abbas when play ended for the day. Team Rajasthan vs Assam in Vizag: Assam 1st inn 195/10 in 84.1 overs (Rishav Das 93*, PK Das 40, Pankaj Singh 5/39, NB Singh 2/40) After electing to field Pankaj Singh bundled Assam out for 195 with a five-for in Vizag. While the captain and his troops ran through the line-up, Assam’s No 3 batsman Rishav Das toiled to hold the innings together. He was stranded on 93 when the innings came to an end towards the fag end of day’s play. While Pankaj took four, Nathu Singh picked two wickets while Ankiet Choudary and A Singh chipped in with a wicket each.
