MoM S Badrinath feels batsmen played good shots to put up a winning score
Trinidad, June 4: Making his Twenty20 debut for India,Man-of-the-Match Subramaniam Badrinath played a vital knock of 43 runs to take India to a defendable, and in the end, winning score against West Indies. Badrinath, who has repeatedly proven his worth in domestic cricket, has had a good T20 season in the Indian Premier League where he was a dependable batsman for Chennai Super Kings. Carrying forward his good form from the IPL he rescued India after the loss of four early wickets along with Rohit Sharma in the only T20 to be played on the tour.
In a post-match media interaction he spoke about the match and his batting.
Excerpts:
On the good start to the tour
It’s been good, my form’s been good and I am happy to start the tour well.
On his experience of wickets in the West Indies
Actually, I toured with the Indian side two years back but I didn’t get a chance to play. But I think the wicket was a bit like what you get in India, so that really helped.
On the team’s batting performance
To be honest, when Rohit [Sharma] and I were batting, we were thinking [of scoring] about 140 [runs]. [We thought] if we got close to 140 [runs], it would be a good score because the situation that we were in, it was tough to bat. It was bit damp and it was drizzling a bit. But we ended up getting 160 [runs] because we played really good shots.
