ICC clears Ajmal to bowl in international cricket
Summary

Bangladesh off-spinner, Sohag Gazi’s modified action also cleared

The International Cricket Council (ICC) have cleared the modified bowling actions of Pakistan’s Saeed Ajmal and Bangaldesh’s Sohag Gazi. The two bowlers are now free to bowl in international cricket. The off-spinners underwent retests of their modified actions under ICC’s rules and their elbow extensions were found to be within the 15 degrees limit of tolerance. However, the umpires are at liberty to call the two bowlers for no-ball in the future if they reckon any flex beyond the permitted limits. The umpires have been provided with footages of the bowlers’ remodeled legal actions. The retests were performed at the Sri Ramachandra University in Chennai on 24 January. Saeed Ajmal was reported after the first Test match against Sri Lanka in Galle in August, while Sohag Gazi was also reported in August after the second One-Day International against West Indies in Grenada. Both Saeed Ajmal and Sohag Gazi failed the initial tests, which were performed on 25 August at the National Cricket Centre in Brisbane, and on 19 September at the Cardiff Metropolitan University, respectively.
