Important to keep it simple: Raina
Summary

Captain believes that the players must be aware of their strengths and play accordingly

Trinidad, June 8: India captain Suresh Raina was all smiles as India took a 2-0 series lead against West Indies in the five-match ODI series following a seven-wicket victory in the second ODI played here at Port of Spain.

In a post match media-interaction the Indian skipper talked about India’s victory in the second ODI.

Excerpts:

On India’s performance in the second ODI

I think it was really nice. Especially the bowlers executed the plan really well, especially Amit Mishra. He bowled really well, unbelievable. When he came to the power-play he bowled really well.

On whether he was worried when the West Indies were 190 odd for the loss of three wickets

We were expecting close to 260-265 [runs] but I think credit goes to Amit Mishra. I think he bowled really well. At the same time Munaf [Patel]and he gave us a breakthrough and Parthiv [Patel] and Virat [Kohli] batted really well.

If this win was more comfortable then the first one

Virat showed great character as well as great responsibility. At the same time Parthiv batted really well. And me and Virat, we had a good partnership. I think it’s really important to just keep it simple.

On whether the revised target bothered him

Not really. We knew we had to do well. I think when you are playing 50 overs game it is important to know your strength and know your game. [Only] then you can play your natural game.
