Shubman Gill’s double hundred and tons from Priyank Panchal and Hanuma Vihari highlighted the final day’s proceedings of the first four-day match between India ‘A’ and New Zealand ‘A’ at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Sunday.
India ‘A’ resumed the day’s play at 127/2, with Panchal and Gill in the middle. Panchal and Gill added 167 runs together before the former got out after scoring 115 off 164 balls, hitting 7 fours and 6 sixes.
Following Panchal’s dismissal, Hanuma Vihari joined Gill in the middle and the two went on to put up an unbeaten 222-run stand before both the teams settled for a draw.
While Gill, who was India ‘A’s top scorer in the first innings, scored an unbeaten 204 off 279 with the help of 22 fours and 4 sixes, Hanuma Vihari, who was leading the side, scored 100 not from 113 balls to guide India ‘A’ to 448/3.
The second multi-day game will begin on Friday.
