India showed us the way
Summary

New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori says that India played like a team and his side have learnt the lessons

Chennai, Dec 10: Putting up a brave front, New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori conceded that Team India has showed the right way to play in sub-continent conditions and his team has learnt its lessons the hard way.

Vettori highlighted the form of James Franklin as the only positive to surface from a clean sweep but said that the series will help his side prepare for the ICC Cricket World Cup.

Excerpts:

On the track

Yeah, I think it was an incredibly difficult wicket. We thought of putting up a decent total on the board and then try and defend it in the night. India played like a team again today and that is why they have played quite well in the series. They have been outstanding and we have not been able to keep up with them.

On losing wickets at regular intervals

Yeah, even in the last game it was our strength – that we were aggressive at the top and then we put some runs on the board- it didn’t work today and when you continue losing wickets, it is hard to get the momentum.

On the spinners

India really strangulated us with their spinners.

On the positives from the tour

Well it is an important series back home [against Pakistan]. We have learnt our lessons- India have showed us how to play in these conditions both with the bat and the ball. I think the form of James Franklin in the last few games has been really pleasing. Hopefully, he can continue that form.
