New Zealand speedster sustained a bicep strain during the first ODI at Guwahati
Mumbai, Nov 30: New Zealand speedster Daryl Tuffey will return home to recover from a bicep strain he suffered during the first One Day International against India at Guwahati.
“Daryl developed some discomfort in his right bicep when playing but was able to manage it during the match,” Mark Greatbatch said.
“It’s appears to be OK when he bowls but he’s unable to throw without pain so he will return to New Zealand for further assessment and treatment. At this stage, a replacement player will not be added to the BLACKCAPS' squad but we may call in some cover for the last few matches,” he added.
Skipper Daniel Vettori and Brendon McCullum, both suffering back injuries, will continue to be monitored by the medical staff ahead of the second One Day International against India in Jaipur on Wednesday.
“We are hopeful that both Dan and Brendon will be available for the next match. Dan is more likely at this stage but we are monitoring both on a day-by-day basis,” Greatbatch added.
