Mah’tra, Delhi qualify for Vijay Hazare Trophy

Maharashtra v Baroda

Pacemen Munaf Patel (three for 25) and Murtuja Vahora (three for 33) led the way as Baroda defeated Maharashtra by six wickets at the Bandra Kurla Complex. Maharashtra’s decision to bat first backfired as they got skittled out for a meagre 124 in 32.3 overs. Baroda lost four wickets, including that of half-centurion Kedar Devdhar (52 off 41 balls), before Yusuf Pathan blasted them home with a 16-ball cameo of 25 runs (three 4s and one 6). Pathan also picked up two wickets for six runs in 2.3 overs.

Delhi v Services

Delhi have become one of the two teams to qualify for the Vijay Hazare Trophy with a 62-run win over Services. Shikhar Dhawan (54) and Jagrit Anand (58) paved the way for the win by setting up a total of 275 for seven. Anand (two for 26) then combined with Pawan Suyal (three for 45) to dismiss Services for 213 in 47 overs. All the other Delhi bowlers, including Ishant Sharma (1 for 29), picked one wicket each.

Haryana v Jammu & Kashmir

Haryana defended a modest 198 for eight to beat J&K by 22 runs at the Model Sports Ground. The star of the match was Yazuvendra Chahal who ran through the J&K line-up, ending up with sparkling figures of six for 24 in 9.4 overs.

Punjab v Himachal Pradesh

Punjab sealed a berth in the Vijay Hazare Trophy with a pounding 84-run win over HP. The victory came on the back of a five-wicket haul by Rajwinder Singh (five for 20) who helped them defend 217 for eight. Harbhajan Singh picked up one wicket for 31 runs in eight overs while Gurkeerat Singh (59) scored a half-century.
