Assam cruised to victory over Bengal, while Odisha outplayed Jharkhand in the ongoing Inter State One-Day League matches. Here is the round-up for the day:
East Zone
Assam vs Bengal in Kolkata: Bengal beat Assam by seven wickets in their East one encounter at the Eden Gardens. Opting to bowl first, the Bengal bowlers ran through the Assam line-up in 33.4 overs. Veer Pratap Singh and Laxmi Ratan Shukla claimed four and two wickets respectively, while the other three bowlers pitched in with a wicket each to bundle Assam out for just 95 runs. Arup Das and Abu Nechim Ahmed then gave Assam early breakthroughs, but Manoj Tiwary took Bengal across the line with an unbeaten 61 with Anustup Majumdar (12*) at the other end.
Jharkhand vs Odisha in Jadhavpur, Bengal: In a one-sided game at the Jadavpur University Complex ground, Odisha beat Jharkhand by 235 runs. Put in to bat first, centurions Paresh Patel and AA Singh helped Odisha pile on 353 runs for the loss of four wickets. Patel, while opening the innings, scored 126 off 131 balls, before being bowled by Rahul Shukla. Singh smashed 132 off 112 balls, before being castled by the pacer.
The Jharkhand line-up then succumbed to the Odisha bowling attack for 118 runs. SB Pradhan rattled the opposition line-up with a seven-wicket haul to seal the game for Odisha. But Shukla and JN Singh put up a late resistance to extend the innings with a 66-run ninth wicket partnership, until Biplab Samantaray ended the stand. The bowler first dismissed Singh and then followed up with the wicket of Shukla to wrap up the Jharkhand innings.
