TN-Karnataka game ends in a tie

In the ongoing domestic Inter State Twenty20 League, the South Zone match between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu ended in a tie. Also, Assam and Bengal registered comprehensive victories on the third day of the tournament. Here is the round-up for the day:

Central Zone

MPCA vs UPCA: MPCA beat UPCA by three wickets in Nagpur. Opting to field first, Madhya Pradesh restricted the opposition to 136 for six and chased down the total with eight balls to spare. RM Khan top-scored for MP with 36 runs, while Naman Ojha made 30 lower down the order.

Delhi vs Himachal: Chasing 110, Delhi reached the target with 10 balls to spare and registered a four-wicket victory against Himachal Pradesh. Earlier, after electing to bat first, Himachal lost opener SA Singh without a single run on the board and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Courtesy Paras Dogra (25) and R Dhawan (38), Himachal posted 109. The Delhi middle-order then ensured a win for their team.

Punjab vs J&K: The Punjab bowling attack bundled out J&K for 103 to claim a thumping 43-run victory at Teri in Lahili. After Mandeep Singh opted to bat first, Punjab set J&K a 147-run target. While chasing the competitive score, the J&K line-up caved in to the S T Kaul-led attack with three balls remaining in the innings.

South Zone

Andhra vs Kerala: Kerala coasted to a seven-wicket win over Andhra in Shimoga in the ongoing domestic Twenty20 tournament. Asked to bat first, B Sumanth took Andhra to 134 for seven with a 45-ball 60-run knock. In reply, Jagadeesh V A (52*) and Rohan Prem (49) helped Kerala get across the line with eight balls to spare.

Goa vs Hyderabad: Defending 141 runs at Badravati in Bangalore, Goa pulled off a seven-run win against Hyderabad. After losing both their openers early in the innings, the Goa middle-order salvaged the innings and posted a competitive total on the board. Swapnil Asnodkar (36) top-scored for the team, while RJ Pinto and RU Shukla contributed 33 and 30 runs respectively. The SS Bandekar-led attack then struck at regular intervals and kept the opposition on their toes to secure a victory. Bandekar and Robin D’Souza claimed two each, while DW Misal picked three wickets for Goa.

Karnataka vs Tamil Nadu: The thrilling encounter between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu ended in a Tie as both teams made 150 for seven. An unbeaten half-century by Karun Nair took Karnataka to 150 after being put in to bat first, while Abhinav Mukund’s 42 at the top of the TN line-up with useful contributions from the other batters helped their team to a tie.

Assam vs Tripura: Assam defeated Tripura by eight wickets in Agartala. Pallav Kumar Das (58) and Pritam Debnath (34*) helped Assam successfully chase down the paltry 122-run target easily. Earlier, after electing to bowl, Assam’s PN Das and GK Sharma picked two wickets apiece to restrict Tripura to 121 for nine in 20 overs.

Bengal vs Jharkhand: Shami Ahmed and IA Saxena (three wickets each) helped Bengal secure a 37-run win against Jharkhand in Agartala. After their batsmen posted 148 for four, the Bengal bowlers ran through the Jharkhand batting order to restrict them to 112 for nine and sail to a comfortable win.

West Zone

Mumbai vs Saurashtra: Saurashtra won the West Zone encounter against Mumbai by 60 runs in Ahmedabad. Opting to bat first, the Jaydev Shah-led side were propelled to 152 for seven by Kuldeep Raval. The lower-order batsman whipped 26-ball 53 not out to help Saurashtra post a competitive total on the board. Pacer Siddarth Trivedi-led bowling attack then ran through the Mumbai line-up. Trivedi claimed the top-order while Raval and Jani took two each to help bundle out the opposition with five balls to spare.

Baroda vs Gujarat: Gujarat skipper Parthiv Patel smashed 54-ball 82 with five sixes and seven boundaries to help Gujarat set Baroda a 171-run target in the ongoing T20 league. Chasing the formidable total, Baroda could manage 162 runs. Mehul Patel picked four-for in Gujarat's eight-run victory.
