The IPL GC met in Mumbai earlier today, to discuss matters related to the IPL Season 2011. It was decided that the Player Auction will take place on 8 and 9 January 2011 in Mumbai. The IPL season will start on 8 April 2011 and end on 22 May 2011. The Opening Ceremony will be held on 7 April 2011. There will be a total of 60 matches, played by 8 teams The Play-offs will be played in the following format, based on league standings: The two semi-finals will be played between Play off 1: Team 1 vs Team 2 Play off 2: Team 3 vs Team 4 Winner of Play-off 1 goes through to the finals. Prelim Final: Loser of Play off 1 vs Winner of Play off 2 Grand Final: Winner of Play off 1 vs Winner of Prelim Final The hosting venue arrangements were finalised and approved at the meeting.
