Kerala shot out for 83 as Bipul Sharma takes six-for
Summary

Group C

Himachal Pradesh have climbed to the top of the table with a win against Kerala on the second day of the last round of the Ranji Trophy 2015-16 league phase. While Bipul’s six-wicket haul was the key to HP’s win as Kerala were shot out for just 83, Monish Kareparambil claimed 4/0 even as he ended on the losing team. Services’ batsman, Rajat Paliwal scored a double-ton against Tripura. Here’s what happened on Day 2, Round 9: Hyderabad vs Jharkhand: Jharkhand 2nd inn 366/6 (S Tiwary 190*, K Singh 54, CV Milind 3/65) Lead by 221 runs. Powered by Surabh Tiwary's unbeaten 190, Jharkhand took their first innings to 366 for six after resuming on 31 for one. The middle-order batsman struck 24 boundaries and hit four sixes in his 244-ball stay at the crease. An outright win with minimum six points will take the team's tally to 30 the same as HP and net run rate will decide the quarterfinalist. If they win with a bonus point they will have a point more than HP. J & K vs Saurashtra: Sau 1st inn 491/9 (S Jackson 121, J Unadkat 91*, Z Sofi 3/51) Lead by 353 runs After resuming his innings on 35, Sheldon Jackson went on to post his eight first-class hundred as he helped Saurashtra to a crucial first-innings lead. He scored 121 off 142 deliveries with seven sixes and 11 boundaries to help the visitors pile on the runs in Jammu. While the rest of the lineup too made useful contributions, Jaydev Unadkat was nine runs short of his maiden first-class century at stumps. Kerala vs Himachal Pradesh: Kerala 2nd inn 83/10 (S Samson 19, B Sharma 6/33); HP 2nd inn 24/2 (A Kalsi 10, M Kareparambil 4/0) HP won by 6 wickets. 14 wickets fell on the second day in Malappuram for 107 runs as Himachal Pradesh posted a six-wicket win to take their points tally to 30 at the end of the league phase. Bipul Sharma claimed six wickets for 33 runs to bowl the hosts out for 83 in the second innings. It was the left-arm spinner's second six-wicket haul of the season which helped set-up a win for HP. However, the 24-run target tested the visitors as Kerala's left-arm spinner Monish Kareparambil claimed four wickets in two overs without conceding a run. He sent back three batsmen without letting them open their accounts as he finished with figures of 2-2-0-4. A Kalsi took Himachal across the line with 10 not out. Tripura vs Services: Services 1st inn 512/10 (R Paliwal 203, D Lohchab 95, R Datta 4/104, T Saha 3/98); Tripura 1st inn 95/1 (A Das 20*, R Raj 1/16) Trail by 467 runs Powered by Rajat Paliwal's 203 and Devender Lohchab's 95, Services piled on 512 runs before being bowled out on the second day. Raushan Raj then claimed Virag Awate, Arindam Das and U Bose took Tripura to stumps. Follow the stars: Sanju Samson scored 19 in Kerala's second innings against HP. Rishi Dhawan claimed one for 20 as HP bowled Kerala out for a double-digit score. Parvez Rasool claimed the sole wicket of Jaydev Shah. He bowled 24 overs for 109 runs with one maiden and one wicket.
