Lee’s absence shattering: Harris
Summary

Pacer regrets not being able to bowl with the icon

Melbourne, Feb 5: Having been rested for the T20Is, pacer Ryan Harris is back in the Australian team for the ODIs. On the eve of the first game of the CB series, Harris spoke briefly about the challenges and plans for taking India on in the 50-over format.

Excerpts from his television interview:

On India’s fielding in the T20I being a positive for India but a challenge for Australia

Absolutely. Their fielding was unbelievable with the injection of the young players that have come in [to the Indian side] and we thought that would be the case. So it’s obviously another chance for us to try and out-field India every time we go out and play now.

On what the absence of Brett Lee for the entire series would mean to Australia

It’s a massive shame [for] me personally I haven’t played with Brett Lee. Every time I come to play with him either I get injured or he gets injured so to me personally it’s a massive blow. I was looking forward to exchanging some bowling [ideas]. As a team perspective, it’s very shattering […] It’s going to be a big loss for us.

On whether the plan was to bowl a fuller length, as in the Tests

Pretty similar, I would say. They are a lot more attacking in the one-day game […] We are going to try and take early wickets [as] India have got a handy top-order. So [we will] take early wickets and put a lot of pressure on them again.
