MCC to honour Tiger Pataudi at Lord’s
Summary

A special dinner to be held at the Long Room to mark his first death anniversary

Mumbai, June 12: The Marylebone Cricket Club has organised a special sit-down dinner at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in honour of late Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi.

The dinner will be hosted at the Long Room of Lord’s on September 22 to mark the first anniversary of Pataudi’s death. On that day in 2011, the legendary former India captain succumbed to a lung infection.

Pataudi’s ties with the MCC go back to the time when his father, Iftikar Ali Khan Pataudi donned the MCC cap on England’s tour of Australia in 1932-33. Pataudi junior or Tiger as he was fondly known, later captained India at the Lord’s in 1967.

While the MCC had been honouring the senior Pataudi since 2007 by naming the India-England Test series as the Pataudi Trophy, the special dinner will honour the son, who has been one of India’s greatest cricket captains.
