In-form batsman Virat Kohli feels batting under pressure helps him ‘maintain focus’
New Delhi, Feb 7:India’s in-form batsman Virat Kohli on Monday said that he believes the success of the Indian team in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 will largely depend on the performance of the middle-order.
"[The] middle-order is our strength and I think it has to first hold the innings and then guide it. Our strategy should be to keep wickets in hand and then attack in the last 10-15 overs, taking advantage of the last five overs of Powerplay."
"We have won games like this. The idea is to build a solid foundation for even our lower-order batsmen to come and score."
The Delhi youngster, who has been in remarkable form recently, says that he is inspired to excel in crunch situations, whether batting or fielding. "I don't like to attack right from the word go and I take my time to settle in. I prefer batting under pressure as it helps me maintain focus."
"Batting under lights is also something I like and I am comfortable chasing a score as it gives me a target to pace my innings."
Virat admitted that playing for India at the World Cup was truly a dream come true for him.
"To be in the World Cup squad is an amazing feeling. I am definitely going to get goose bumps when I go out to play. It gives me more happiness than holding the U-19 World Cup trophy. So you can imagine what it means to me," he added.
