Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq believes that Saturday's Champions Trophy match against India will be a chance to beat the world champions and salvage some pride before leaving for home.

The last group B match between the archrivals is technically a dead rubber, but Misbah said his team "will play for the fans". “I think because people really want to win, especially in Pakistan and India. Whenever we play each other it's like a final for everybody.”

While addressing the media, Misbah-ul-Haq said, “I think it's still a very important game. Everybody knows that India‑Pakistan is always a game most of the viewers are looking forward to watch. They always want to see India and Pakistan playing each other. I think still it is an important game for both the teams and both of us want to win the game.”

Speaking about their plans for the Indian batting line-up that has flourished in English conditions, “Pakistan’s bowlers have already played against India in India earlier, and they had bowled effectively to most of their batsmen. They are confident about that and they are very much capable of just doing that. That will help us as a team, because lately we did well against India.”

Speaking about his own team, the Pakistan captain said, “I think as per tournament there's no pressure on us now, so it's one game. It's a chance for us to just prove ourselves, go there and just get something back. So I think as a player, as a team, there should not be any pressure on us. We should just express ourselves and go there and just try to win that game.”

Commenting on the recent performances of the Indian team, Misbah said: “Of course they are confident. Getting wickets at the top of the order will be the key against India. We hope that we can do that.”

Speaking about Pakistan’s batting woes, he explained, “I think the problem (is) when you lose early wickets, that is the problem sometimes. You really have to make up for that, and in that case you can't just play freely.”
