The WI’s leg-spinner says his team needs to capitalize on the solid start they have got
Jamaica, June 23: Having taken seven wickets in the Sabina Park Test against India, Devendra Bishoo has been a key bowler for the West Indies. Playing in only his second series, the leg-spinner has caught everyone’s attention with his good form.
With the match evenly poised on the fourth day, Bishoo spoke to the media about the hosts’ chances of winning the Test and his own game.
Excerpts from the media interaction:
On the way the game is poised
Game on. We just need to capitalize on the start we have and bat well.
On whether the spinners or the pace bowlers hold the key on the fourth day
No matter how good the wicket is you have to come out and bowl. The wicket [will aid], both, the spinners and the pacers. So, it is just a matter of how you bowl on the wicket.
On his current form [has taken seven wickets in this Test]
I am very happy starting of well in my second series and doing well. It’s a really great opportunity and I just have to keep working hard and keep doing what I am doing and just keep on improving.
On whether he would reveal the variations in his bowling
No I don’t want to reveal it. I am working hard in the nets and with my coaches. Everything [is] just working out for me right now.
On how satisfied he is with his career after having a dream start to it
I am very satisfied and I am very happy. It is good to have a start like that and as I say, “You got to keep on doing what you are doing. Keep on improving.”
