Not intimidated by India: Tauqir
Summary

Big names and star players in the Indian team not a bother says UAE captain

It is a star studded line-up that UAE will be up against when they walk out at the WACA on Saturday. Though UAE have had a couple of close contests against Ireland and Zimbabwe, they are the underdogs for the clash against a power-packed Indian side. For UAE captain Mohammad Tauqir though, names and players don’t matter. “We know they are big stars but we will take this game like the previous two games,” Tauqir said. “The intensity is going to be the same and we will not be intimidated by their names or their status. All the boys are looking forward to this game and everybody wants to do well.” Taquir also took a lot of heart from the spirited performance in their previous two games. “The Zimbabwe game was close and the Ireland game was even closer. We know we are playing well and getting closer to a win. We are taking it easy and sticking to our basics, doing it right and enjoying the game. If you look at the Zimbabwe game and the game against Ireland, there has been an improved performance. Both games were close and we need to get over this line and win the next one. We are getting closer to victory.” The captain was also of the view that his batsmen needed to convert the starts into big ones. “We need to turn the 30s and 40s into bigger runs like Shaiman Anwar showed in the last game. There have been little lapses of concentration in the middle but we know our middle-order can put up a bigger innings. I am sure we will look at some bigger innings during this tournament.” With less time to get over the loss against Ireland just a couple of days back, the captain said the travel did take a toll on his players but playing games with less intervals would also help them keep the momentum going. “In a way it is good that we can build on the momentum from the last game and didn't have to wait for long. The travelling did get a bit tiring but the mood in the dressing room is very positive.
