Preview: Bangladesh vs India, 2nd ODI
Summary

Visitors seek redemption after 1st ODI jolt

What 2nd ODI of the three-match series between India and Bangladesh When June 21st, 2015 Where Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur The Teams India Things were fine when India’s opening duo of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan had got their side to a confident start in the run-chase in the first ODI. But few would have expected what followed after the fall of that first wicket. India had managed to put a 95-run stand but after the initial breakthrough, began a slide that saw India suffering a 79-run defeat. The loss was shocking and unexpected but India now would be looking to put the loss behind and go with a better mindset in the 2nd ODI. Rohit Sharma’s half century, Suresh Raina’s fighting 40 and R Ashwin’s good run with the ball would be amongst the positives that India would take into the second game come Sunday. India captain MS Dhoni has also called for improvement in the pace bowling department after the trio of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav and Mohit Sharma leaked 148 runs. India’s middle order too seems to be a point of concern and meaningful contributions from them would be more than welcome. The visitors have their backs against the wall but one can expect them to rise to the occasion and get a result in their favour. Bangladesh They are charged up, they have their heads held high and after delivering a big punch a couple of days back, their confidence would have only grown manifold. With the win coming as a surprise for many, this team looked like it always had the belief to beat one of the best in the business especially after their splendid ODI form of late. The openers looked carefree, scored at a brisk pace and even after jolts in the middle fought back to post a 300-plus score. Even their bowlers looked right on the money the moment they began getting breakthroughs. Young Mustafizur Rahman was the pick of the bowlers troubling the Indian batsmen with his subtle variations picking up a fifer in the bargain. Captain Mashrafe Mortaza in the post-match presentation spoke about the belief and the confidence in his side that was responsible to get an all important victory. Those two factors will continue to play a huge role when they walk out on the field against the same opponents on Sunday. If they win, they have the series in their bag. Key Players India Virat Kohli’s bat has been silent for quite sometime now. He had a decent outing in the 2015 ICC World Cup notching up one century which came against Pakistan in Adelaide. Since then he had a couple of unbeaten knocks and a few thirties going into the series against Bangladesh. He was out scoring just 1 in the first ODI and would be looking to make amends in the 2nd. If Kohli makes those amends, Bangladesh will have a lot to worry. Bangladesh After Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar’s prolific opening century stand it was Shakib Al Hasan’s experience and patience in the middle that held a wobbling Bangladesh innings together. Shakib as usual will play an important role in the middle-order and will also be required to continue his good show with the ball. Afterall, he was Bangladesh’s most economical bowler in the first ODI picking up two wickets managing to keep the Indian batsmen silent.
