Summary
India look to maintain winning run against England
What
The fourth One-Day International of the five-match series between India and England
When
October 23, 2011. The game begins at 14:30 pm, IST. The match is a day-night affair and will be streamed LIVE for viewers across the world on www.bcci.tv. Viewers in India can catch the action with a five-minute delay.
Where
Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. The venue of India’s ICC ODI World Cup triumph earlier in the year. In fact, India have not lost an ODI match in their last three appearances at this venue. However, England, too, have a good record to show at the Wankhede Stadium having beaten India on both occasions they have played here previously. But with the wicket for this match likely to be a slow turner, England’s perfect record here could soon change.
The Teams
With the series wrapped up, India could well use the remaining two ODI games, beginning with the fourth ODI, to give the other members in the side an opportunity to play. Varun Aaron is a promising fast bowler and it would be interesting to see how he shapes up on the big stage. A similar case could be made for legspinner Rahul Sharma to be played ahead of the proven R Ashwin. Manoj Tiwary, too, should be given an opportunity in the middle-order with the likes of Suresh Raina or Virat Kohli being given a bit of a breather.
Having lost the series, England will now certainly play for pride. Also, having played the same eleven right through the series, they are sure to ring in a few changes in the last two ODI matches. Ravi Bopara or Jonny Bairstow, both of whom have had an ordinary series so far, could easily be replaced by Ian Bell. Graham Onions, who has been called in as a replacement for the injured Chris Woakes, could also get a look in ahead of Jade Dernbach (1 wicket, economy-rate 6.54, strike-rate 154.00). Most importantly, England will look to Graeme Swann to step up on the slowish Wankhede track, which is sure to assist spinners. Two wickets from three matches don’t do complete justice to Swann’s reputation as a world-class spinner.
