Preview: West Indies v India – 4th ODI
Summary

Can West Indies halt India’s ODI winning run?

What

The fourth of the five One-Day Internationals between West Indies and India

When

June 13, 2011. The game begins at 6:30 pm, IST.

Where

Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua. Yet another wicket that had something in it for everybody. Rohit Sharma [86*]and Andre Russell [92*] showed there were runs to be scored on this wicket in the third ODI. The spinners, too, benefitted with the assistance from the track as Amit Mishra [3/28] and Devendra Bishoo [2/41] posted the best bowling figures on either side.

The Teams

West Indies must be ruing the fact that they let India get away in the previous ODI. They pretty much had the Indians on the mat at 92 for six but allowed Rohit Sharma and Harbhajan Singh to orchestrate a comeback. Dropped catches played their part as Harbhajan was let off on as many as three occasions. Really, with the series at stake, one would have hoped for a better fielding effort from the hosts.

Nevertheless, the West Indies batting continues to be their biggest worry. Their openers have posted a 50-run partnership only once in this series with Kirk Edwards [46 runs from three innings] largely playing truant. IPL star Kieron Pollard [six runs from two innings], too, must step up if the hosts are to expect a better contribution from the middle-order.

With West Indies beset by problems, India have their best chance to extend their winning streak in ODIs to eight successive games. That would put them one shy of their best ever run in the 50-over format. Equally, with the series in the bag, the Indians could be expected to ring in a few changes for this game. Manoj Tiwary could get an opportunity in the middle-order while R Ashwin might give Harbhajan a breather before the Test series begin.
