Mr Ajay Shirke, former Hony. Treasurer will serve as the Honorary Secretary of the BCCI. Mr Shirke, in the past, has been a member of the IPL Governing Council and several BCCI committees besides holding the post of Vice-Chairman, National Cricket Academy. Mr. Shirke's association with Maharashtra Cricket started in 2003 and he assumed the office of President MCA in 2005. He is credited with spreading the reach of cricket to faraway areas like Dhulia, Nashik, Latur and Ratnagiri. With 21 districts under MCA’s wing, cricket is no more limited to Pune, which traditionally was the hub of all activities. Importantly, Mr Shirke was instrumental in creating a modern cricket stadium in Pune, which has recently been granted test status. During his term as Treasurer BCCI (2012-13), Mr Shirke brought transparency to the accounting and finance wings and initiated a series of reforms specially related to short-term fund management. Mr Shirke has vast business interests, mainly in engineering and specialty electronics.
