Quad U-19: NZ vs Ind
Summary

India lose their first game by six wickets

Townsville, Apr 5: India lost their first match of the ongoing Quadrangular Under-19 series in Australia to New Zealand by six wickets.

Asked to bat first, India were skittled out for 123 in 47 overs. Having lost their first four wickets with just eight runs on the board, India could not recover from the initial blow and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Although Baba Aparajith was involved in a 43-run partnership with Kuldeep Yadav, and scored an unbeaten 40 himself, the 17-year-old ran out of partners at the other end.

After Jacob Duffy and ED Nuttall, IS Sodhi and Connor Neynens polished off the Indian tail.

Chasing 124, New Zealand reached the target with 16.2 overs to spare. Joe Carter and Nick Kelly ensured that the Black Caps reached the target comfortably after losing two early wickets. While Carter scored six boundaries in his 96-ball 45, Kelly hit five boundaries and two sixes during his unbeaten knock for 62 runs.

The only successful bowler in the Indian camp, Kamal Passi claimed all four NZ wickets that fell at the Endeavour Park ground here.

Brief scores: India 123 all out in 47 overs (B Aparajith 40*, IS Sodhi 3/25, E Nuttall 2/11, C Neynens 2/17, J Duffy 2/19) lost to New Zealand 127/4 in 33.4 overs (N Kelly 62*, J Carter 45, K Passi 4/25) by six wickets
