Quick Stats: West Indies v India – 1st ODI
Summary

Sharma and Raina post best fifth-wicket partnership for India in West Indies

Trinidad, June 7: By winning the first ODI of the five-match series, India have now won the opening game of all the bilateral ODI series in the West Indies since 2006. Also, this was India’s fifth successive ODI victory since they beat the West Indies in the league stage of the 2011 ICC World Cup. Here’s a look at the stats highlights from the first ODI played at Port of Spain.

2 - The number of times Harbhajan Singh has ended an ODI on a winning note by hitting a six. The other such occasion was against Pakistan in 2010 Asia Cup when Harbhajan smacked Mohammad Amir for a six.

3 - Shikhar Dhawan became only the third Indian to score a fifty on his first appearance in the Caribbean. The other two are- Dinesh Mongia (74 at Bridgetown in 2002) and Dinesh Karthik (67 at Kingston in 2009).

3 - Number of times India have won the opening match of a bilateral series in the Caribbean. Interestingly West Indies won in 1983, 1989 and 1997. India have won all three since then (in 2006, 2009 ....and 2011). The first two ODIs in 2002 were abandoned because of rain.

5 - The win was India’s fifth on the trot. The sequence started with the win against West Indies at Chennai on March 20, followed by win versus Australia at Ahmedabad on March 24, versus Pakistan at Mohali on March 30, versus Sri Lanka at Mumbai WS on April 2....and now this match.

80 - Runs added by Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina for the fifth wicket – India’s highest partnership for this wicket in the Caribbean. Ajay Jadeja and Robin Singh had added 75 at Bridgetown in 1997.

176 - Number of dot balls in West Indies innings. In comparison Indian batsmen played only 141 dot balls.
