Rain hampers third day’s play
Summary

Dinesh Karthik and Sheldon Jackson added 85 runs before play was called off

After yet another delayed start due a wet outfield, Dinesh Karthik (35*) and Sheldon Jackson (48*) had added 85 runs to India Blue’s overnight total against India Red when rain again made its appearance. With the rain refusing to relent, day’s play was called off. On the third successive day, the match at Shahid Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex in Greater Noida, was interrupted due to rain. India Blue, who were asked to bat by Yuvraj Singh had lost five wickets during the only session of play on the second day after resuming their first innings on 105 without loss in the evening. On Day 3, Greater Noida once again woke up to a rainy morning which eventually let up towards the afternoon. The ground staff was again the hero of the match. They toiled relentlessly after rain stopped to ensure play on the third day again. In the ongoing match under lights with the pink ball, play resumed at 5:30 in the evening with Karthik and Sheldon resuming their innings. Both the batsmen resumed their innings on zero and steadily stabilised the India Blue innings as they looked to boost the total after the batting collapse on Day 2.

However, the conditions again became overcast and a bit before the dinner break, rain came pouring down and stopped play after just 16.2 overs. Brief scores:

Day 1 - India Blue 1st inn 105/0 in 34.2 overs (M Agarwal 53*, G Gambhir 51*) Day 2- India Blue 1st inn 200/5 in 62 overs (M Agarwal 92, G Gambhir 77, K Yadav 4/49) Day 3 - India Blue 1st inn 285/5 in 78.2 overs (S Jackson 48*, D Karthik 35*)
