After suffering a defeat in their opening game, Delhi beat Jharkhand in the second match of Group B held at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy BKC, Mumbai. Here are the highlights Baroda v Kerala: Bar 160/6 (Irfan Pathan 35 not out, Padmanabhan Prasanth 2/15) lost to Ker 164/6 (Ralphi Gomez 47 not out, Irfan Pathan 2/14) by 4 wickets Raiphi Gomez slammed an unbeaten 47 from just 21 balls as Kerala snatched victory from jaws of defeat against Baroda. Chasing 161, Kerala were 74/4 in 12.2 overs and were looking down the barrel. Gomez first shared a 34-run stand with Sachin Baby for the fifth wicket and added 45 runs for the seventh wicket in just 17 balls with Padmanabhan Prasanth to take the team home in sensational fashion, with two balls to spare. While Gomez was clearing the fence, Prasanth struck two sixes in the penultimate over bowled by Munaf Patel to bring the equation down to 11 from six balls. Back on strike, Gomez, who had got the team so near, sealed the deal in the final over bowled by Rishi Arothe. Earlier, captain Sachin Baby hit 44 from 35 balls to put the chase back on track. Meanwhile, Baroda captain, Irfan Pathan had a successful outing, but would be disappointed to end up on the losing side. Batting at No. 6, Irfan first hit 35 from 18 balls and later bowled four overs for just 14 runs. He removed opener Sanju Samson off the second ball of the innings and dismissed the talented Rohan Prem cheaply. Jharkhand v Delhi: Jha 134/7 (Virat Singh 45, Ishank Jaggi 42, Pavinder Awana 3/28) lost to Del 138/5 (Nitish Rana 60 not out, Varun Aaron 3/27) by 5 wickets Delhi got over the disappointment of their loss to Gujarat despite Unmkut Chand’s century with a clinical five-wicket win over Jharkhand. Parwinder Awana claimed 3/28 while Nitish Rana struck an unbeaten 60 to guide Delhi to the third position in the table. Opting to field first, Delhi did everything right to restrict Jharkhand to just 134/7, who got to past the 100-run mark thanks to a 62-run stand between Virat Singh and Ishank Jaggi. Delhi were in trouble when openers Unmkut Chand and Gautam Gambhir were back in the dugout for single digit scores. With No.3 Subodh Bhati also making just one, Delhi were reeling at 14/3 when Dhruv Shorey and Nitish Rana got together and added 64 runs for the fourth wicket. While Shorey got out in 11th over, Rana stitched a 40-run partnership with Pawan Negi for the sixth wicket as the two chased down the total in 18 overs.
