1st Semi-final

Saurashtra vs Punjab, at Rajkot

The match is tantalisingly poised at the end of four days with Punjab needing 304 more runs for a win, with eight wickets in hand. After Punjab folded for 299 in reply to Saurashtra’s 477 in the first innings, skipper Harbhajan Singh led his team’s fightback with bowling figures of 4/60.

Saurashtra were dismissed for 170 in their second essay. Pacer Siddharth Kaul picked up three wickets, while Bipul Sharma took a couple. The only significant batting contributions came from Sitanshu Kotak (53) and first-innings centurion, Sheldon Jackson (44).

Chasing 349 for a win, Punjab finished the day at 45/2 – Jiwanjot Singh and Taruwar Kohli being the batsmen out. R Inder Singh and Mandeep Singh were at the crease at stumps.

According to the rules, if there’s no result on the fifth day, the match will go into a sixth day to decide outright winners.
