Mumbai, Maharashtra qualify for the quarter-finals

Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Mumbai from Group A have qualified for the knock-outs while Assam and Andhra have made it from Group C to the next stage. Delhi, Maharashtra and Vidarbha from Group B have entered the quarter-final round. Here are the highlights of the nerve-wracking last round of the league phase of the Ranji Trophy 2014-15 season: Group A Baroda vs Tamil Nadu: With a seven-wicket win over Baroda, Tamil Nadu confirmed their top place in Group A. Baroda have been knocked out of the tournament. An unbeaten 104 by Murali Vijay helped the side chase the 207-run target with ease. After resuming on 51/1 on the fourth morning, TN lost Baba Aparajith and Dinesh Karthik to S Manglorkar. But Vijay anchored the innings and took the team across the line with Vijay Shankar (26*). Madhya Pradesh vs Bengal: Bengal, who were in the danger of relegation, pulled off a draw against MP. Wridhiman Saha's 92 off 232 balls along with Saurasish Lahiri's 48* helped the side pull off the draw. MP, who needed an outright win to make a bid for the QF, managed only three points on the basis of their first innings lead. Mumbai vs Karnataka: Mumbai gained three points on the basis of a first innings lead from the drawn game against Karnataka at the Wankhede Stadium. With Baroda out of the race after their loss to Tamil Nadu, Mumbai have qualified for the quarter-finals. Lifted by Suryakumar Yadav’s 77* the hosts declared their second innings on 223/8. Karnataka then made 110/1 until the match was declared a draw. Railways vs Uttar Pradesh: UP beat Railways by seven wickets. Chasing 243, UP resumed their second innings on 25 without loss and were propelled to victory by E Dwivedi (102*). Group B Gujarat vs Haryana: Gujarat won by nine wickets Maharashtra vs Vidarbha: A six wicket win over Vidarbha helped Maharashtra gain six points and a place in the quarter-final. Following on Vidarbha resumed their innings on 274/6 on the fourth morning and were bowled out for 391 earlier in the day. Maharashtra then chased down the 164-run target in 30.5 overs. H Khadiwale made 42 in the effort. Odisha vs Saurashtra: Odisha gained six points from their two-wicket win against Saurashtra. Chasing 283, Odisha resumed their second innings on 128/2 on the fourth morning and attained the target later in the afternoon for the loss of eight wickets. Anurag Sarangi was the top-scorer in the innings with 83 for Odisha while SK Trivedi picked 4/45. Punjab vs Delhi: Delhi won by 90 runs Group C Andhra Pradesh vs Goa: Andhra won by an innings and 136 runs Hyderabad vs Himachal Pradesh: Hyderabad gained three points on the basis of their first innings lead. A double-century by GH Vihari (263) helped the side to 524/5 in reply to HP's 511. Jharkhand vs Services: Jharkhand won by nine wickets. Kerala vs Assam: Assam finished as table-toppers of Group C and have booked themselves a place in the quarter-finals. In their last league game they gained three points on the basis of a first innings lead. Resuming on 26 without loss, they were 188/6 when the match ended in a draw.
