Andhra, Delhi, TN and Maharashtra coast to victories

While the Siva Kumar-led attack helped Andhra Pradesh beat Tripura, the Manan Sharma-led Delhi triumphed over Odisha, Tamil Nadu beat UP and Shrikant Mundhe helped Maharashtra to victory against Team Rajasthan on the pen-ultimate day of the sixth round. On his return to the domestic circuit, Cheteshwar Pujara was amongst the century makers on Day 3 along with Manish Pandey, Shreyas Gopal and Anshul Gupta in the Ranji Trophy 2014-15 season. Here are the highlights of the day: Group A Bengal vs J & K: Bengal were leading by 288 runs with seven wickets in hand at stumps on Day 3. Openers A Easwaran and Arindam Das got the hosts off to a good start with a 126-run opening stand until Aamir Aziz claimed the latter. At the end of day's play, Manoj Tiwary was batting on 52 with Wriddhiman Saha on eight. Earlier, the Ashoke Dinda-led attack helped Bengal to a first innings lead by bowling J&K out for 315 after resuming on 183/5. Madhya Pradesh vs Karnataka: Manish Pandey (193) and Shreyas Gopal (124) helped Karnataka to a first innings lead on the third day of the ongoing four-day game. Building on the lead, the side were 516/8 at stumps with Abhimanyu Mithun and Udit Patel at the crease. Railways vs Baroda: Resuming their first innings on 28/2 the hosts were 215/7 in reply to Baroda's 298 in the first innings. Yusuf Pathan and Swapnil Singh claimed two wickets each as they claimed the Services middle-order during the day. At the end of day's play, Arnab Arun Nandi was batting on 16 while Ashish Yadav was trapped lbw by Irfan Pathan on the last ball of the day. Tamil Nadu vs Uttar Pradesh: Tamil Nadu were awarded seven points for their innings and 49-run win over UP on the pen-ultimate day of the round. Resuming their first innings on 360/7, the hosts added 40 runs to their total before being bowled out earlier in the day. V Shankar gave TN their first breakthrough by sending back Akash Verma in the third over of UP's second innings while Suresh Kumar and Malolan Rangarajan ran through the rest of the line-up. Kumar picked 4/38 while Rangarajan claimed 5/42 to bundle UP out for 169 and bowl the hosts to victory. Group B Delhi vs Odisha: Delhi coasted to an innings and 150-run win against Odisha in Delhi on the third day. The Gautam Gambhir-led side wrapped up the visitors first innings for 118 after resuming on 25/1 to enforce the follow-on. The Manan Sharma-led attack then bundled the Odisha line-up for 85 to bowl the hosts to a thumping victory. Manan Sharma claimed 6/24 in the second innings to finish with eight wickets in the game. Gujarat vs Punjab: Resuming on their overnight score of nine, Punjab were 219/4 in the first innings at stumps on Day 3 and trailed by 294 runs. RH Bhatt who had put Gujarat in a commanding position with the bat claimed two wickets during the course of day's play while N Chauhan and Ramesh Power picked a wicket each. At the end of day's play, Trauvar Kohli was batting with Sarabjit Ladda. Maharashtra vs Team Rajasthan: After Maharashtra were bowled out for 274 in the first innings earlier in the morning, the Shrikant Mundhe-led attack skittled Rajasthan out for 106-in the second innings to set-up victory for the hosts. Mundhe claimed 6/38 and was well complemented by the rest of the attack to wrap-up the visitors in 45.4 overs. Opener Swapnil Gugale then led the 103-run chase with an unbeaten half-century to take the team to nine-wicket win in Pune. Vidarbha vs Saurashtra: Saurashtra were trailing by 332 runs with 5 wickets in hand in the 1st innings in Nagpur. Resuming on 20/2, the visitors were kept in the fray by Cheteshwar Pujara who scored 114 before being trapped lbw by Akshay Wakhare. Jaydev Shah was batting on 12 with Arpit Vasavada on 13 when play ended for the day. Group C Andhra vs Tripura: The Siva Kumar-led attack bowled Andhra to an innings and eight-run win over Tripura on Day 3. The bowler claimed four while CV Stephan picked three, DP Vijaykumar took two and Ricky Bhui chipped in with a wicket to bowl Tripura out for 151 in the second innings as well. Himachal Pradesh vs Jharkhand: Resuming on 195/1 after loss of a day's play yesterday, HP posted 304 before being bowled out earlier in the day. Ashish Kumar and Shahbaz Nadeem claimed four wickets each while RR Singh took two to run through the hosts’ line-up. Jharkhand were 94/1 with Saurabh Tiwary (40*) and Rameez Nemat (53*) in the middle at stumps. Hyderabad vs Assam: Following-on, Hyderabad were trailing by 157 runs with nine wickets in hand at their home ground. Resuming on 35 without loss, the hosts were bowled out for 215 in the first innings by S Purkayastha (5/59) and J Syed Mohammad (3/73). Purkayastha then claimed Tanmay Agarwal at the stroke of stumps to leave the home team on 21/1. Services vs Goa: Services were trailing by 84 runs with six wickets in hand in the first innings against Goa in Delhi. Remaining unconquered on 110, Anshul Gupta anchored the innings to take the team to 220/4 at stumps. He was batting with Hardik Sethi (59*) at the end of day’s play. Goa's Gauresh Gawas picked the two Services' wickets that fell on the third day.
