Haryana beat Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh beat J&K, Vidarbha won against Delhi, Odisha beat Punjab on the third day of the pen-ultimate round of the Ranji Trophy 2014-15 season. Bowlers starred in the three-day victories of the teams. Here are the highlights of the round: Group A Baroda vs Mumbai: Shreyas Iyer's 90 followed by Nikhil Patil's unbeaten half-century and Siddhesh Lad's 48 helped Mumbai to an advantageous position. The visitors scored 304/9 before declaring their innings later in the day to set the hosts a 408-run target. With BS Sandhu and Shardul Thakur claiming a wicket each, Baroda were 67/2 at stumps. The home team were trailing by 341 runs with a day's play remaining. Bengal vs Railways: Bengal were leading by 153 runs with 5 wickets in hand in the second innings at stumps on Day 3. Earlier, resuming on 219/6 in the morning at the Eden Gardens, Railways secured a first innings lead before being bowled out for 302. At stumps the hosts were 187/5 with Wriddhiman Saha (39) and Shreevats Goswami (28) at the crease. Jammu & Kashmir vs Madhya Pradesh: Ankit Sharma and Jalaj Saxena bowled MP to an innings and 97-run win against J&K in Indore. The visitors lost their first two wickets for an addition of two runs in the morning. Bowled out for 177 in reply to MP's 371, the Parvez Rasool-led side were asked to follow-on and were skittled out for 97 later in the day. Ankit and Jalaj picked five wickets each to wrap-up the visiting side's second innings. Ankit, who had claimed four wickets in the first innings finished with a nine-wicket haul from the game. Karnataka vs Uttar Pradesh: Resuming on 10 runs in the morning, UP were bowled out for 220 in the first innings in reply to Karnataka's 719/9 declared. Shreyas Gopal claimed four wickets while Sreenath Aravind picked three and captain Vinay Kumar took two. However, Karnataka did not enforce the follow-on and were 8/0 at stumps. Group B Gujarat vs Maharashtra: Following-on, Maharashtra were trailing by 38 runs with all wickets in tact at the end of day's play against Gujarat in Valsad. Ramesh Powar ran through the visitors’ lower half to bowl them out for 262 in the first innings after resuming on 86/2. The veteran spinner took 4/34 while Ishwar Choudhary and Mehul Patel took two wickets each. At the end of day's play openers Swapnil Gugale and Harshad Khadiwale had taken Maharashtra to 131. Haryana vs Team Rajasthan: Joginder Sharma and Harshal Patel bowled Haryana to an innings and 119-run win against Team Rajasthan. The bowlers picked five wickets each in the opposition's second innings to help the team to seven points. The visitors who were asked to follow-on on Day 2, lost their remaining five wickets for the addition of 36 runs on the pen-ultimate day. Patel, who had claimed six in the first inning accounted for five in Team Rajasthan's second innings to wrap-up the visitors for 74. Punjab vs Odisha: Odisha cantered to a six-wicket win in the low scoring game in Mohali. Earlier, Basant Mohanty claimed 6/42 to bowl Punjab out for 141 in the second innings after resuming on 37/4. Yuvraj Singh made 56 while Gurkeerat Singh Mann made 43 to set the visitors a 126-run target. Govind Podder (60) then took Odisha across the line 47.3 overs. Vidarbha vs Delhi: The Shrikant Wagh-led attack ran through Delhi twice to bowl Vidarbha to a thumping innings and 93-run victory in Nagpur. The visitors first innings was wrapped-up in the morning for 154 after resuming on 133/8 and asked to follow-on. Wagh claimed five while Rakesh Dhruv picked four to bowl out the Gautam Gambhir-led side in the first innings. Both bowlers claimed three wickets each while Faiz Fazal and Akashay Wakhare picked two wickets apiece to bundle Delhi out for 123 in the second innings. Virender Sehwag was the top-scorer for Delhi with 41 in the second innings. Group C Assam vs Andhra Pradesh: 116/6 in the second innings, Andhra were trailing by 59 runs at the end of day's play. Swarupam Purkayastha's unbeaten century helped Assam to a sizeable first innings lead. The lower-order bat made 108 to help his team to 312 in reply to Andhra's 137. He then returned to claim three wickets while Syed Mohammed picked two and Arup Das took one to put Assam in driver's seat with a day left in the game. Goa vs Jharkhand: Following on Goa were trailing by nine runs with five wickets in hand in their home ground. Resuming on 106/5 on the third morning, the hosts were bowled out for 215 earlier in the day. Samar Quadri picked four while Rituraj Singh, Varun Aaron and Shahbaz Nadeem took two wickets each in the effort. The visitors were 161/5 at stumps in the second innings. Quadri had picked three of the five wickets that fell in Goa's second inning so far. Himachal Pradesh vs Tripura: Asked to follow-on in Agartala, Tripura were trailing by 169 runs with all wickets intact. Resuming on 143/2 Tripura were bowled out for 346 in reply to HP's 535/5 declared, Rishi Dhawan claimed 7/93 to help enforce the follow-on. At stumps the hosts were 20/0. Kerala vs Services: Following on Services were trailing by 42 runs with four wickets at stumps on Day 3 in Kannur. Earlier resuming on 85/3, the visitors were bowled out for 318. Rajat Paliwal made 157 and Yashpal Singh made 72 but the rest of the line-up caved in to the Amit Verma-led attack. Verma claimed five while V Manoharan and Rohan Prem took two wickets each. Akshay Chandran then pushed the side further on the back-foot by running through the top-order in the second innings. By the end of day's play he had claimed 5/23 to leave Services on 123/6. Nakul Verma was batting on 25 with Saurabh Kumar on 41 when play ended for the day.
