Summary

Haryana’s Patel claims eight wickets against Karnataka

Mumbai, Jan 2: Rajasthan scored 220 for the loss of five wickets at the end of Day 1 of the quarterfinal match against Hyderabad after Hrishikesh Kanitkar won the toss and elected to bat at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal. Hyderabad struck in the first over to send back opener Vineet Saxena for a duck while skipper Kanitkar was the next to depart for just four runs. Veteran batsman Aakash Chopra then anchored the innings with an unbeaten 82 and was at the crease with Dishant Yagnik (60*) when play ended today.

The two teams had last faced each other in a Plate Group league encounter played in Rajasthan where Deepak Chahar had claimed eight wickets for 21 runs; Rajasthan had beaten Hyderabad on that occasion. Defending champions Rajasthan are, however, without the services of their swing bowler Chahar in this knockout game.
