Mumbai, Jan 5: A day after Haryana beat Karnataka to qualify for the semifinals of the Ranji competition’s 77th season, the draw for the penultimate round was decided on Day 4 of the quarterfinals.
The semifinals will be played from January 10 to 13. Details below:

MPCA v Mumbai: MPCA’s Mohnish Mishra and Devendra Bundela scored entertaining centuries even as Mumbai made it to the semis riding on a first-innings lead. Boosted by the centuries, MP declared their second innings on 474 for three but Mumbai showed no real interest in reaching the target of 233 in a minimum of 49 overs. Kaustubh Pawar and Praful Waghela had reached their respective half-centuries when play ended with Mumbai on 113 for one, through to yet another semifinal in their illustrious history.

Hyderabad v Rajasthan: Defending champions Rajasthan marched on to the
Ranji semifinals on the back of a massive first-innings lead. Hyderabad did well to set Rajasthan a target of 155, riding on big innings from captain Dwaraka Ravi Teja (185) and Akshath Reddy (151), hoping to get a shot at victory. But Rajasthan played for time, uninterested in the chase, earning their second semifinal berth on the trot.

Tamil Nadu v Maharashtra: A first-innings lead of 183 ensured Tamil Nadu’s passage to the Ranji semifinals. Day 4 of the encounter witnessed centuries from Maharashtra openers Harshad Khadiwale and Chirag Khurana while Kedar Jadhav scored a half-century. Set a target of 139, Tamil Nadu had scored 45 for one in 14 overs when play ended.
